Valerie Kershaw is the senior partner of Kershaw & Baumgardner, LLP. She attended Sullins College in Virginia prior to receiving her B.S. from the University of Kentucky where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with High Distinction. Ms. Kershaw graduated cum laude from the University of Louisville College of Law and was the recipient of the Samuel Greenebaum Public Service Award. Prior to going into private practice, she served as a law clerk for Justice James E. Keller and Judge Laurance B. VanMeter.

Ms. Kershaw is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), a member of the American Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, she has served as the president of the Kentucky Chapter of the AAML, and has acted as the Chair of Family Law Section of the Fayette County Bar Association.

She is trained as a Family Mediator by the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Court. She is a frequent lecturer on various topics of Family Law at educational programs for lawyers and other professionals.

Ms. Kershaw is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Eastern and Western District of Kentucky and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
